Can you believe that this was a new song nobody in the audience had heard? Who knew he was so funny? *sigh* My hero.
The first two songs I learned how to play on guitar when I was 13 were Neil Young’s Sugar Mountain and Love Is A Rose. He is hands down my guitar God. A few years back I was lucky enough to open for him in Hong Kong. He was playing with Crazy Horse but at one point he did a solo acoustic/harmonica break. I remember sitting there on the side of the stage with my then boyfriend (now husband Teddy) listening to Harvest Moon and looking out over the harbor. The whole audience who primarily spoke cantonese were singing along word for word and it was echoing into the night. Just thinking of it brings joyful tears to my eyes. It’s one of my very favorite memories. *photos from one of my very favorites, Henry Diltz
