I love food.

I grew up with a mother that was equivalent to a gourmet chef. We sat around as a family nearly every night and ate beautiful extravagant meals together. Most of the time when we would make it out to a restaurant for a special occasion, we’d all end up praising my mom in the car on the way home about how much more we enjoy her food than eating out. That being said, going to the local Furrs was not necessarily the epitome of culinary enlightenment but the point is, my mom makes damn good food.

Almost 4 years ago when I became a mother myself, I was suddenly reeling at the idea that it was my responsibility to take care of this little person who knew no better. It was then that I started becoming educated on the ugly truth behind factory farming and where our food comes from. My family and I successfully became vegetarians for three years (full on vegan for 6 of those months) and it seemed to go really well for a long time. Until about a month ago…

Good morning everyone.

I'm in Cambria, California packing my bags to go back to Los Angeles. I had a really relaxing weekend with my family. I hope yours was just as wonderful.

Today the California State Supreme Court is announcing it's decision on Proposition 8.

It really saddens me that in this day and age it's even up for discussion. Civil rights and equality are something that must be fought for. Love, peace and equality for all regardless of sexual orientation, race or religion!!

Let's hope the right decision will be made!!

See I warned you!! I'm a musician and my idea of "early" is a little different than most people :)

I'm sitting here in beautiful Santa Monica, California, about to take my in-laws dog on a walk. Apparently there was just another earthquake but I didn't feel it. I am listening to my friend Ashley Monroe's old (new) album Satisfied on itunes. It was just released today. She recorded it long before The Wreckers project was finished and sadly like so many artists out there, they released a couple singles and then shelved the album. Ashley is such a true talent. I have been fortunate enough to write with her on many occasions and she literally has songs pouring out of her. She's been very inspiring for me. I couldn't even begin to imagine what it would feel like to not only have a record shelved but then re-released years later with barely any promotion.
